ABOUT THE ARTIST
Helena Garza is a Mexican visual artist, living and working in Mexico City. Her work has, as point of departure, the visual poetry of the everyday; photographs of spaces and situations understood as the inexhaustible reality that refuses to be reduced to a single sense. That is, it arises from the intimate universe, from thoughts and emotions, from memories and desires that, together with the blazing exuberance of its environment, it breaks down into fragments; perhaps as a reflection of the present understood as a constant process of decay and renovation.
Far from a chaotic mishmash, the artist's work explores dreamlike harmonic settings through juxtaposed images and textures of people and spaces taken from the daily life, as well as global social phenomena.
Helena's works, which ranges from analog media -painting, drawing, mural and design-, to digital - virtual reality, use of different software or audiovisual ensemble performance-, expresses the complicity between the conceptual taxonomy of the artist and reality understood as a possibility.
